Half Moon - Sentient Cement

A . . . mostly . . .
Something's crawled over Half Moon
Among the misty birch
A faded twisted church
Is gathered

A sentinel has volunteered
To guard the haunted path
Against the ancient wrath
That's whispered

I hope you're not as stoned as me
Paralyzed with mystery
Certain every hollow tree
Is breathing

Desecrated burial mound
Crumbled dust of elders found
Raising spirits from the ground
Seething

Vengeance visits camp this night
Plundered from a dead man's plight
Whose last remaining act doth light
Our fire

Bundled blanket twines us close
Without this temple grandiose
Terrors trumped by comfort's ghost
Desire

The sentinel has now retired
And given fate the reigns
To share among its thanes
That whisper

Does Half Moon Haunt or I?
Does Half Moon Haunt or I?
Does Half Moon Taunt or I?
Does Half Moon Haunt or I?
When all the fabled forms
Can do against lover's storms
Is gather
