Plastered - Sentient Cement

A - G#4 - G4 - F#4
Plastered, molded to the floor
Solid, stone forever more
Marbled, veins along my skin
Inside, shattered Obsidian

Magma, boiling from below
Rubied, eyes that hardly show
Stretching, arms frozen in place
Carvings, etched into my face

Nunyunuwi Galiha  Nunyunuwi Galuga

Forbidden from northward travels
Renowned courage refutes the command
The Stone Coat, of frost ice and great cold
The man boasts of strength and killing
Entice the man eaters, I won't fool you again
Frightened and without knowing
The Stone Coat implanted in the man splendid power
"This man," said he in his mind, "is as strong as we are."

---------------------------

According to the Cherokee / Seneca tradition,
all tribal dances and songs originated in a single event,
namely, the slaying and sacrifice of a monster
called Stone Coat or the Stone Man (Nun'yunu'wi)
so named for his "skin of solid rock".
As Stone Coat burned in the fire made for him by the people
there issued forth from him songs
a gift to the people to aid them in all walks of life.
These songs were to be learned
and passed on from generation to generation.

The Stone Coats fled to the West
Yet the Stone Coat woman returned good fortune
A pact, kill the Stone Coat upon his return
The firebrand ran into the Stone Coat and killed him

A - G#4 - G4 - F#4

Ashes, fallen to the ground
Glasses, shards all around
Heartbeat, somewhere within
Breathing, weak and stretched thin

Blinded, hazy all around
Strong weeds, hold me to the ground
Synapse, firing within stone
Statue, sitting here all alone

Nun'yunu'wi Gvnodv Nun'yunu'wi Nelisgv

Every block of stone has a statue inside it
Free the figures slumbering in the stone
I saw the angel in the marble
And carved until I set it free
