DAVE
(AKA: Dave Rosset, David)

Who's This Dave Rosset Dude Musically, and Why?

In 1974 2 year old David's uncle bought him his first drum-set as a sick way to get back at his mother for buying his cousin 1000 army men for Christmas the year before. As the 80's commenced, David joined his first crew playing with his 3rd grade school band.  He enjoyed a series of instruments, ranging from the trombone to the xylophone, the saxophone, the trumpet. Nothing would satisfy for long.   Everyone thought he had some type of mental disorder until his wise grandpa Kenny said . . .  he's a drummer! I've never seen anyone carry a beat and play the beat so consistently. He'd finally found his natural calling, the snare and bass drum . . . marching style.  David's teachers also realized the he was a gifted improv drummer and encouraged unconventional musical paths too.

"I recite and create drum patterns and rhythms all in my head 24-7.  Then when I actually sit down and apply it to a drum set, it's like the easiest thing to do. I've already written the songs in my head." - Dave Rosset

By Christmas 1984, David's had upgraded to a 5pc drum se. From there he would try and play along with his albums. Van Halen 1984, Motley Crue, Theater of Pain and Night Ranger were early staples.

"Alex Van Halen is the single most influential drummer for me. Tommy Lee, 1980's Tommy Lee was probably the second at the time, for his style and flash." - Dave Rosset

Iin 1986, David was introduced to Metallica via the punk skater scene and everything changed in terms of exploring what could be done on drums. Finding the drums to be a weapon or a battle for you internally to clear your head to make your presence known.
"Suddenly I realized how personality works with your instrument. I learned this early on and spent the next 20 years perfecting my craft.  From 86-89 I would play at church plays, musicals etc etc and school performances too and would dream of all my friends being on stage with me.  That's when I got the vision of creating music as a life style not for performance or for glamour or money, but for the purity of the moment in creating something beautiful from nothing and knowing you did that for you!" - Dave Rosset.

In 1989 Dave formed his first band Screams Of Aggression. It was an all original 5pc punk thrash alternative outfit with interchangeable friends from high school.  They remained strong on the local scene until about 1993 when ultimately some of the members couldn't handle the balancing act of being a musician or being a drug addict.

In 1994, David formed a hardcore punk band Atomkinder.  They dominated southwest crust core scene from 95-00. Atomkinder produced a self titled 7' ep in 1995.  Atomkinder 1995 (YT).

David has formed many other bands, always all original and always playing the drums exploring expanding capabilities. Bands such as Jazzcore Trio; all original all instrumental 100% improvisation project from 1997-2000.

In 2002 David formed Los Fiendish Thingees with some other local Phoenix cats. This time, still being all original with a mixture of obscure covers, they encompassed the sounds and feel of early 60's garage rock; Sid Barrett meets Tiny Tim, if you will. This seven piece crew played locally for the better part of the early 2000's.

More recently, David's been engaged in a series of recordings and experiments integrating drums into bass sludge acid doom groovyness with Cristina Nunez (Currently playing with The Darts).
